Applications are accepted online only during the first 7 days of each month starting at Midnight on the 1st.
Inside Wireman applications are on hold until September 1st and will be limited to the first 200 applications received.
For general information about the electrical trade and the benefits of going Union, we also recommend visiting IBEWYes.org. You will need to do some research on your own due to high call volumes we can’t provide this information over the phone.
Application Timeline
The process typically takes about 6 months, including the aptitude test and interview. In some cases, it may take up to a year.

Competitiveness
Our program is highly competitive—only about 5% of applicants are accepted. We often receive 200+ applications per month.
Pre-Apprenticeship Option
If you don’t have prior trade experience, consider applying for our pre-apprenticeship program as well. This program is also highly competitive.
Program Overview:
Inside Wireman apprenticeship lasts 5 years It includes approximately 8,000 hours of on-the-job training and provides full time employment combined with classroom instruction.
Telecom Technician apprenticeship lasts 4 years It includes approximately 6400 hours of on-the-job training and provides full time employment combined with classroom instruction.
Costs and Benefits:
There is no tuition, and apprentices earn while they learn. You’ll be responsible for the cost of tools and books, but you’ll also be eligible for other benefits as well.

Basic requirements:
Age: Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of selection and indenture.
Education: Provide proof of education. Applicant must submit a copy of diploma, GED or HISET with test scores, or proof of an Associate's Degree or higher.
Transcript: You must provide transcripts for high school or college experience. The transcript must show the applicant has successfully completed at least one of the following with a passing grade: one full credit of high school algebra, one post-high school algebra course (e.g. adult education, continuing education or community college) or an online algebra or tech math course.
Aptitude Test: Qualify for an interview by obtaining a passing score on the electrical trade's aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.

We are currently allowing direct entry with the approved qualifications. Please inquire when submitting your work experience. Please attach experience using W2’s, paystubs, work reports and to show 4000 hours of verified experience
All applicants will be required to pay a $25.00 application fee
(non-refundable and no personal checks).
***If currently or previously in the military, you must submit a DD-214 to verify your military training and show a release from active duty.***

Please note that our application process typically takes around 6 months to complete. The first step is to submit your application online. After 2-3 months, you will be scheduled to take a test.
After the test, we will review your test score and that can take up to a month and if you receive a passing grade then we’ll contact you within 1-2 months to schedule an interview. We understand that this is a lengthy process, but we believe it is necessary to ensure that we find the best candidates for our program.

While we cannot provide an exact number, we can tell you that the number of seats available is limited, and we receive more applications than we can accommodate. Therefore, we encourage every applicant to take the time to make their application as strong as possible in order to increase their chances of being accepted into our program.
