Apprenticeship Applications

Basic requirements:

  • Age: Be at least 17 years of age. Applicants must be a minimum of 18 years old at the time of selection and indenture.

  • Education: Provide proof of education. Applicant must submit a copy of diploma, GED or HISET with test scores, or proof of an Associate's Degree or higher.

  • Transcript: You must provide transcripts for high school or college experience. The transcript must show the applicant has successfully completed at least one of the following with a passing grade: one full credit of high school algebra, one post-high school algebra course (e.g. adult education, continuing education or community college) or an online algebra or tech math course (such as the NJATC online Technical Math course).

  • Aptitude Test: Qualify for an interview by obtaining a passing score on the electrical trade's aptitude test developed and validated by the American Institutes for Research.

  • For those seeking to enhance their understanding and skills in the electrical trades, consider taking a Practice Aptitude Test available on iprep.online.

Work Experience:

  • Provide proof of at least 4,000 substantiated electrical construction work hours. This can be substantiated by bringing in W-2s for prior years or bringing in the final paycheck stub for the years in question.

All applicants will be required to pay a $25.00 application fee
(non-refundable and no personal checks).

***If currently or previously in the military, you must submit a DD-214 to verify your military training and show a release from active duty.***

  • Please note that our application process typically takes around 90-120 days. The first step is to submit your application online. After 30 days of submitting your application, you will be scheduled to take a test.

    After the test, we will review your test score and if you receive a passing grade then we’ll contact you within 30 days to schedule an interview. We understand that this is a lengthy process, but we believe it is necessary to ensure that we find the best candidates for our program.

    While we strive to adhere to this timeline, we acknowledge that unforeseen circumstances may arise that could cause delays.

  • Please note that all applicants for the KCJATC Apprenticeship program will be notified of their application status via email and/or mail. We will make every effort to ensure that all applicants are informed of their status in a timely manner.

  • Our program accepts a variable number of apprentices each year, depending on a number of factors. While we cannot provide an exact number, we can tell you that the number of seats available is limited, and we receive more applications than we can accommodate. Therefore, we encourage every applicant to take the time to make their application as strong as possible in order to increase their chances of being accepted into our program.
